Your Story

As this new year begins, there are no mistakes in it. We have every possibility in front of us. This is a great time to decide to make choices of action for our life, and not allow life to just happen to us. It is also good to remember, our life experiences have been given to us to learn from, but also to share with others, as a comfort and strength.

Looking back at this last year, I have grown a lot. It has been a really difficult year, but I have learned many things. I have learned, in a more profound way, that each person is literally at a different level of existence than another person. As I have thought about this, I have realized that it is very important to know this; so that when you connect with someone, your first response is not to be critical. With each interaction we need to be sure to pause, and then proceed by showing respect for their efforts to get them where they are at. Then always leave them in a better place than you found them.

I have also learned that life’s challenges are not meant to be side stepped. Each challenge that we face is our “growth spirt”. We don’t choose them. They don’t go away. The best way to handle them is to keep making choices of action each day. If you become overwhelmed, rest and regroup; then reach out to others for support and strength.

One thing that I am learning is to be kind to myself. This is really hard for me to do. I know that when I take time to relax, it is easier for me to deal with others and the challenges that come.

I would encourage you as you begin each new day, to think of it as your opportunity to write your story. In your story, you don’t have to be grammatically correct. Make the choice of what adventures you will take, and who will come along with you. Remember to be kind to others, when your stories cross paths. At the end of each day write down your moments of gratitude. Rest, wake up, and begin again. Live each day by choice, as you choose each day to live.
